Concrete - material

Concrete is traditional cement mixed with sand, gravel and water. The mixture is highly resistant to pressure, but weaker in terms of torque and other forms of impact. This may be improved by mixing in fibres during the moulding process (fibre-reinforced concrete) to achieve greater flexibility and reduce dimensions. Concrete can be additionally reinforced with steel rods.

Our products are made from fibre-reinforced concrete that consists only of oven-dried quarts sand and cement, frequently reinforced by a stainless-steel frame. The fine structure of the quarts sand minimise porousness, sealing off the surface to reduce the impact of frost.

Unlike wood, fibre-reinforced concrete does not absorb moisture.

The material is heavy, strong and available in dimensions ranging from a thickness of 20mm upwards.

The material fades minimally in sunlight, it is unaffected by wind and weather, maintenance free and easy to clean (ordinary cleaning agents, high-pressure cleaners on a low setting).

Minor subsidence cracks may occur when using concrete. These do not impact strength and can be repaired using concrete render.

At the end of its lifecycle concrete can be used as building filler.

Concrete is inflammable.

Pigments may be mixed in prior to moulding for different colour effects.
