"It was only possible to use fence posts for this project because Point Sun is solar-powered. Cables cannot function with a fence post as cables need to be concealed in a pipe. Therefore, the design also reveals the use of solar-powered lighting. As a landscape architect, it is a great freedom to have." - Sune Rieper/SLA

In the new West Jutland nature and experience area, Naturkraft, near Ringkøbing, the captivating forces of nature come into play. The objective is to increase visitors’ awareness of nature’s connections through play and experiences. Being situated amidst the West Jutland heathland required that the design and architecture did not spoil the area’s nature. Landscape architects SLA designed the new nature and experience area. In lighting, they employed solar-powered lights that, based on the landscape’s own conditions, guide visitors through the beautiful, open landscape without spoiling its unique features with cables and electrical installations. The small solar cell units – Point Sun – are mounted either on top or on the side of fence posts along paths in the area. They ensure sufficient light for safe movement without affecting the experience of the starry sky over the landscape during dark hours
