Orb Sea

Ørestaden, Denmark

Light-creating, magical moments along the water: ORB - The luminous 'aquatic creatures' that react to the city's sounds. ORB Sea is a family of water lights that, like sea creatures in the ocean, respond to their surroundings. Each individual element dives between the water surface and the seabed, emitting an enticing glow of light patterns across the entire color spectrum. ORB Sea can also project beams of light towards the bottom, providing a glimpse of life underwater

Many Danish cities have in recent years established canals, lakes, and river routes to bring water into the urban areas. Often, people forget that even after nightfall, there is life and movement in these places. They can sometimes seem a bit eerie with their dark, murky waters. But now, there’s a solution as out-sider, in collaboration with Ørestad Vandlaug and the local homeowners’ association, has launched 7 luminous ‘aquatic creatures’.

ORB was developed through a collaboration between Live Art Installations, installation technician Thomas Jørgensen, lighting programmer Jácome Armas, and out-sider

The intention with ORB is to create a story about the luminous creatures that live in the canal, who interact with the passers-by and their shouts or songs by changing color
